Originally sourced from the famed Kalimna Vineyard in the Barossa Valley, it has evolved into a multi-region blend, with Barossa fruit continuing to shape its unmistakable style. The 2023 vintage delivers layers of blueberry, elderberry and poached plum, wrapped in notes of cinnamon, baking spices and a hint of blueberry pie. Savoury touches of roasted meat and olive tapenade add depth, while fine chocolate-like tannins and subtle minerality bring structure and length. Rich, generous and beautifully balanced, it's a classic Bin 28 that drinks superbly now or will reward careful cellaring through to 2043.

Koonunga Hill Shiraz joined the range in 2002, a contemporary reflection of Penfolds multi-regional sourcing philosophy. Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet is a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. Sourced from premium vineyards across South Australia, the wine is known for its full-flavoured style with excellent Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, firm yet well-rounded structure and balanced oak. Made as a traditional 'Australian blend', the Shiraz component provides fleshy fruit flavour while Cabernet Sauvignon provides a frame of fine grained tannins.
